Of course, riding is the key activity on a ranching holiday and you’ll find the American-style riding on a western saddle is far easier than European style riding.  All the horses are extremely well trained and you can do as much or as little riding as you like.  The range of activities on offer supplemental to riding is enormous from white-water rafting to tours of historic attractions – while some ranches offer wilderness pack trips or cross-country cattle drives as well as winter adventures in the snow.  You may want to combine a week on the ranch with some other activity, such as a glitzy city break in Las Vegas or a tour of Wyomings spectacular national parks or it’s the perfect base from which to discover the awesome Grand Canyon National Park by helicopter or plane.  A ranch holiday offers the ultimate in family travel.

Tanque Verde Ranch

The ranch is located on 640 acres in the lush foothills of the Rincon Mountains with miles of scenic horseback riding and hiking trails.  Riding is offered every day, including a breakfast ride in the desert which should not be missed!  There are indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, tennis courts; mountain biking and nature hikes are some of the facilities on offer.  For younger guests there is a fully supervised children’s ‘Buckaroos’ and ‘Wrangler Kids’ Programmes incorporating riding along with other activities such as tennis, swimming, hiking, nature trails arts and crafts and games.  While the kids are being entertained you can enjoy a spa treatment after a hard day in the saddle!
